UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian discussed the Karabakh settlement and the ways to overcome the political crisis in Armenia during a telephone conversation, Sarkissian’s press service reported.

YEREVAN, APRIL 28. /ARKA/. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian discussed the Karabakh settlement and the ways to overcome the political crisis in Armenia during a telephone conversation, Sarkissian’s press service reported.

They were said to have emphasized the issue of peace and stability in the region. Sarkissian reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue through negotiations and expressed gratitude for the unconditional support of the UN for the negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group.

The sides once again stressed the need to exclude possible tension on the contact line between Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Azerbaijan.

President Sarkissian also informed Guterres about the domestic political situation and expressed his gratitude to the secretary for his statement, in which he particularly focused on exclusively peaceful settlement of political processes, display of restraint and resolution of existing problems through dialogue, within the framework of the Constitution, the rule of law and human  rights. The president confirmed the commitment of the Armenian authorities and all political forces to these principles. -0-
