YEREVAN, May 4. /ARKA/. Armenian president Armen Sarkissian received on Friday ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon and charges d’affaires of Kuwait and Iraq, the presidential press service reported.

It said they discussed the current political situation in Armenia and also a set of issues related to the expansion of economic cooperation with Armenia.

Sarkissian was said to have thanked the diplomats for their respective countries’ warm attitude towards the Armenian communities in their countries, enabling them not only to preserve their national identity, but also to develop and actively participate in the political and socio-economic life of these countries.

The diplomats expressed hope that all problems in Armenia will be resolved within the framework of the Constitution and Armenian legislation, stressing the importance of Sarkissian’s efforts in this matter.

In a related development the parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) said it will unanimously adopt a decision on the election of prime minister on May 8. The head of the faction Vahram Baghdasaryan said to journalists on Friday that the party’s r decision will be unified, and on May 8 Armenia will have a new prime minister.

According to him, earlier the HHK declared that it would not impede the election, but now says it will render assistance. "If we do not vote, then how do you think prime minister will be elected?" he said in response to a question about a possible decision of the party to boycott the May 8 voting.

Earlier, several HHK MPs stated that they did not imagine how their party could vote for opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan's candidacy for the post of prime minister. -0-
