YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who left today morning for Nagorno-Karabakh, had a meeting with its president Bako Sahakyan in Stepanakert to discuss various issues of cooperation between the two Armenian states, Sarkissian’s press office reported.
It said after the meeting, Sarkissian spoke to journalists saying that Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is indeed a state unit with democratic institutions, elected parliament and president, as well as people who are not only proud of being citizens of Artsakh, but also of having their own state.
"I am sure that the democratically-elected leadership of Artsakh together with its people, has the experience, pride and courage and, of course, the wisdom to independently resolve their internal problems. We all - Armenia and all our nation - stand for the Artsakh, because the challenges have not ended. They are just as big as yesterday, if not bigger. Therefore, the stability of Artsakh is very important for all of us," he was quoted as saying.
During the visit, Sarkissian and Sahakyan accompanied by the head of the Artsakh Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan and the head of the Union of Liberators of Artsakh Samvel Karapetyan, visited the construction site of a public park devoted to freedom fighters. -0-
