YEREVAN, April 4. /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan promised to spare no effort and energy for the creation of a new Armenia, an Armenia in which every citizen will feel better than before.
“Consistent and painstaking work is awaiting us. Of course, there is much work, but we are not afraid of difficult roads. My words may seem pathetic, but they come from the bottom of my heart," he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Karapetyan, all segments of the Armenian society were convinced that the April 2 parliamentary elections were held at a higher level than in previous years. He thanked all Armenian citizens who took part in the elections for active and responsible manifestation of their civic position.
"Those votes that our team received are binding. We are clearly aware of the responsibility that we are taking on ourselves and are determined to implement the mandate of changes given to us by the people," he wrote.
According to the preliminary data, released by the Central Election Commission, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia received 49.12 percent of the votes while the opposition Tsarukyan Alliance led by wealthy businessman Gagik Tsarukyan gathered 27.32 percent. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation/ Dashnaktsutyun (ARF) had 6.57 percent and the opposition bloc Yelk (Way Out) 7.77 percent, enough for both to enter parliament. -0-
