Armenian prime minister remembers victims of Armenian pogroms in Baku

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited today the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Armenian pogroms in Baku, Azerbaijan.
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited today the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Armenian pogroms in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The head of government, accompanied by the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and senior officials laid a wreath at the Genocide Memorial and flowers at the monument erected in memory of the victims of the Baku pogroms.
From January 13 to January 19, 1990, the Azerbaijani authorities organized and carried out mass pogroms of the Armenian population of Baku. About a quarter of a million local Armenians were subjected to violence and deportation only because of their ethnicity.
Immovable and movable property of thousands of Baku Armenians was looted and taken away. As evidenced by international human rights organizations, over 400 Armenians were killed in Baku. -0-
