YEREVAN, September 29, /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Monday, according to the government's Facebook page.

The prime minister spoke on the situation on the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border  stressing that Azerbaijan has declared war on Nagorno-Karabakh.

Pashinyan noted that, unlike the escalations of previous years, the current one is characterized by an extremely active and biased position, as well as destabilizing direct participation of Turkey in the hostilities on the Azerbaijan's side.

The UN Secretary General expressed deep concern over the current situation and developments, stressing the need to resume the peace process within the OSCE Minsk Group.

Nikol Pashinyan had also a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at 22:00 on Monday, the press service of the government reported.

It said Pashinyan presented the situation in the region, saying that Artsakh was subjected to the aggression by Azerbaijan and expressed extreme concern over the ongoing military actions that threaten the security of Armenia and Artsakh.

The prime minister added that after the fighting in July on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Turkey has been demonstrating unprecedented activity in the region. Pashinyan called on Merkel to make every effort to curb Turkey's aggressive and destructive behavior and exclude its involvement in the region.

The German Chancellor expressed her deep concern about the situation. She noted that the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has no alternative and stressed the need to resume the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. -0-
