Armenian prosecutor demands life imprisonment for Russian soldier

Armenian prosecutor Gevorg Gevorgyan demanded today life imprisonment for Valery Permyakov, a serviceman from the Russian military base in Armenia’s second-largest town of Gyumri, standing trial for killing a family of seven in the town on January 12, 2015.

YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. Armenian prosecutor Gevorg Gevorgyan demanded today life imprisonment for Valery Permyakov, a serviceman from the Russian military base in Armenia’s second-largest town of Gyumri, standing trial for killing a family of seven in the town on January 12, 2015.
According to the Armenian service of RFE/RL, the prosecution demands to pronounce Permyakov guilty of murdering seven members of the Avetisyan family, combined with the robbery, as well as an attempt to illegally cross the border with Turkey. Permyakov’s defender will speak at the next court hearing.
On January 12, 2015, a family of seven, including two babies, was murdered in Gyumri. Suspect Valery Permyakov, was caught by Russian border troops as he attempted to cross Armenia-Turkey border. He confessed his guilt during the interrogation.
During the August 2015 trial Permyakov pleaded guilty and repented, but refused to testify during the trial. The Russian garrison military court sentenced him to 10 years in colony for desertion and theft of weapons. –0--
