Inauguration of Armenian re-elected president Serzh Sargsyan will be held in Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. Inauguration of Armenian re-elected president Serzh Sargsyan will be held in Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan.
Serzh Sargsyan who leads the Republican Party of Armenia was re-elected for his second term in the February 18 presidential elections. According to the official information, Sargsyan polled 58.64%, whereas the official runner-up, leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisian obtained 36.74% of the votes.
International observers said the elections complied with the international standards.
Yet, Raffi Hovhannisian challenged the official ballot results, appealed against the outcome in the country’s constitutional court and is going to hold an “alternate” inauguration Tuesday at Liberty square.
The ceremony will be held at a special parliament session where Sargsian will be sworn in on the country’s constitution and VII century Bible.
Russian delegation led by the head of Russian president’s administration Sergey Ivanov will participate in the inaugural ceremony. Numerous guests, including secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolay Bordiuja, Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar Salehi and high ranking other officials from many countries have already arrived in Yerevan to attend the inaugural ceremony. -0-
