YEREVAN, December 18 /ARKA/. The revolution in Armenia did not affect the basic nature of Armenian-Russian relations, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin said at a press conference on Tuesday.
As evidence he pointed out the intensifying political interaction between the two countries, including the dialogue between the leaders of both countries, as well as the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, and the regular exchange of delegations.
According to the Russian ambassador, Armenia’s and Russia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) contributes to the development of their bilateral relations as a result of which their trade turnover increased by 30% last year and by 17% in the first 9 months of 2018.
According to Armenia’s National Statistical Committee, Armenia’s trade with Russia in the first 10 months of 2018 grew by almost 15% year-on-year to $1.567.8 billion.
"Armenia takes an active part in the development of future policy within the EEU, the expansion of integration cooperation to new areas, including the digital sector," said Kopyrkin.
"Active and allied cooperation continues at international platforms, in particular, in the UN. We are grateful to our partners and allies for supporting the initiatives, which are very important to Russia and, I am sure, to the whole world," the ambassador said. -0-
