The Armenian society has a substantial change run now, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday as he met with Dunja Mijatović, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian society has a substantial change run now, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday as he met with Dunja Mijatović, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights in Yerevan.
According to the press office of the prime minister, Pashinyan congratulated Mijatović on her entry in office and expressed willingness to cooperate effectively.
The reforms the government has launched after the velvet revolution, he said, are aimed at ensuring a new level of progress in protection of human rights, development of civil society and democracy as well as enhancement of citizens’ participation in decision-making process and struggle against corruption.
The premier stressed the importance of cooperation with the CE Human Rights Office.
Mijatović, on her side, thanked the prime minister for the reception. In her words, she was closely following political developments in Armenia. She welcomed their peaceful character.
The Armenian premier and the CE human rights commissioner exchanged opinions over women’s participation in social and political life in Armenia.
Pashinyan stressed that women have played and continue playing an important part in democratic processes in the country and said that the government attaches importance to their participation in state administration. -0---
