YEREVAN, October 31. /ARКА/. The Armenian government has approved today the appointment of lawyer Ararat Grigoryan as new governor of Vayots Dzor marz (province).
Ararat Grigoryan has replaced the former governor of the southeastern Vayots Dzor province, Trdat Sargsyan, who resigned in late September amid an investigation into his possible involvement in a violent dispute that left one man critically injured.
Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet session, the new governor said that he did not see a conflict of interest between his new position and his advocacy.
“As part of my advocacy, I advised on various issues. I also provided legal services,” he said.
Grigoryan said that he was not going to combine the work of the governor and the lawyer and will soon ask the Armenian Bar Association to suspend his license. -0-
