YEREVAN, September 2. /ARKA/. The Artsakh issue is not closed and cannot be considered closed, since the Armenians of Artsakh are deprived of the right to live freely and safely in their homeland, said the representative of the Supreme Body of Dashnaktsutyun, opposition member of the Armenian parliament Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
"Official Yerevan and Baku are trying to convince our people and the international community that the problem has allegedly been solved. However, we all know that this false thesis serves one purpose - to justify the defeatist policy that continues in the form of unilateral concessions and treacherous decisions made behind the backs of the people," Saghatelyan said at the international conference "Artsakh: Unresolved Conflict, Right of Return" in Yerevan.
According to him, any document imposed by force or threat of force cannot be considered legitimate. "No decision made regarding the fate of Artsakh can have legal and political force without the direct participation of the Armenians of Artsakh," Saghatelyan said.
On the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijan in Artsakh
On September 19-20, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale aggression against Artsakh using artillery, UAVs and combat aircraft. On September 28, following negotiations with the Azerbaijani side, Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan issued a decree that all state institutions of the republic are dissolved and that the Republic of Artsakh ceases to exist from January 1, 2024.
The residents of Artsakh were forced to leave their homeland and moved to Armenia. According to the RA government, more than 115 thousand Artsakh residents have been registered. To assist them, the RA government is implementing a number of programs, the primary needs platform https://e-soc.am and the 114 hotline of the RA Ministry of Social Affairs are involved.
