YEREVAN, November 13. /ARKA/ Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan and the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent Rustam Muradov discussed today a set of issues regarding the mission of the peacekeepers.

"Today I received the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, who arrived in Artsakh to control the ceasefire. During the meeting, we discussed specific issues related to the implementation of the responsible peacekeeping mission by the contingent," Harutyunyan wrote in a Facebook post.

The first Russian peacekeepers have been deployed to Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions. The peacekeepers are now in control of the Lachin corridor, a key connection between Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh breakaway region. In total almost 2,000 Russian troops will be deployed in the conflict zone.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement to end the war in the zone of the Karabakh conflict from November 10. According to the statement, Azerbaijani and Armenian forces were to stop at their positions.

A number of districts controlled by the Armenian forces of Karabakh are to be returned to Azerbaijan, including the city of Shushi, as well as Aghdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia through Lachin.

A Russian peacekeeping contingent is deployed along the line of contact in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and surrounding areas. The sides exchange  prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead. --0---
