Artsakh president congratulates Pashinyan on winning snap elections

Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Bako Sahakyan sent on Monday a congratulatory message to the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

YEREVAN, December 10 /ARKA/. Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Bako Sahakyan sent on Monday a congratulatory message to the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
"On behalf of the people and the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh I congratulate you on the convincing victory of the bloc led by you in the extraordinary elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. I hope that the new National Assembly and the Government will fully assist the development and strengthening of the Republic of Armenia and preserve the strong triunity of Armenia -Artsakh – Diaspora for the implementation of national programs,” Sahakyan said in a message.
"I wish you, all our brothers and sisters in the Republic of Armenia peace, good health, success and victories for the glory of our Motherland and people!", the message says.
Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s alliance My Step has secured a landslide victory in December 9 snap parliamentary election, having won 70.4 percent of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC) that presented the outcome of the vote from 1,965 polling stations out of 2010.
The Prosperous Armenia Party of wealthy businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, with 8.3 percent is second and the Bright Armenia is third with 6.4 percent. The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia has received 4.54%, short of the amount necessary to enter parliament. The ARF/Dashnaktsutyun party has 3.9 percent.
Voter turnout was low at about 49%. There is no turnout threshold, however, to enter the parliament, a party must secure more than 5 percent of the vote and alliances must get over 7 percent. At the same time, according to the law, at least three political forces must be represented in parliament. -0-
