YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. In an interview with Artsakhpress news agency and ‘Azat Artsakh’ newspaper Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) president Bako Sahakyan commented on today’s  remarks made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the existence of some conspiratorial forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Pashinyan argued today that before his election as prime minister, the authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh were not aware of the essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process.

“When Nikol Pashinyan assumed the office of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the process of negotiations was one of the first issues that we discussed. I can characterize them as honest and principled, which was repeatedly stated publicly,” Sahakyan said .

According to Sahakyan, Pashinyan provided to him some documents on the process of negotiations. In its turn, the leadership of the Republic of Artsakh passed a package of relating documents to the prime minister.

Sahakyan said  in the past and now, the authorities of the Republic of Armenia would keep the leadership of Artsakh aware of the issues discussed and the latest developments before and after negotiations with
Azerbaijan.

"I would like to emphasize that the best and perhaps the only way to avoid speculation in this issue is to restore the full involvement of Nagorno-Karabakh authorities in the negotiations," he said.

In comments on Pashinyan’s statement about the existence of some conspirators in Nagorno-Karabakh and the rumors that some representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh authorities  instruct their assistants to write Facebook posts claiming  that Pashinyan is selling land to Azerbaijan, Sahakyan said he had been asked such questions before, including during a meeting with members of the ruling My Step parliamentary faction on May 20.

“I said if there are conspirators, they must be punished, and if someone has proven facts about their conspiracy, let them tell us and we will take appropriate steps,” he said.

The president of Nagorno-Karabakh also noted that “our unity is one of our most important achievements,” and called any step aimed at its destruction unacceptable, be it in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh or the Diaspora.

"I consider a conspiratorial style inadmissible. If there are  suspicions, distrust of a particular phenomenon, person or official, I consider it important to discuss all these issues in an atmosphere of mutual respect and to find a common denominator. We have one homeland and the duty of each of us is to do everything possible to preserve its unity," he stressed. –0-
