YEREVAN, September 8. /ARKA/. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) National Assembly will convene September 9 for an extraordinary session to elect a new president.

Four parliament-represented parties -Free Homeland, Justice, ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Democratic Party of Artsakh nominated the acting state minister Samvel Shahramanyan as a candidate for the vacant post. The United Homeland party nominated ex-defense minister Samvel Babayan.

However, its application was rejected as Babayan failed to provide a certificate of Nagorno-Karabakh citizenship for the last ten years as well as a certificate of permanent residence on the territory of Artsakh for the last ten years.

The position became vacant after ex-president Arayik Harutyunyan resigned on September 1.-0-
