YEREVAN, October 4. /ARKA/. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan issued a statement today in five languages, addressed to the national minorities Talysh and Lezgins living in Azerbaijan's south and north respectively.
"Dear Talysh and Lezgin brothers and sisters! We are closely following the internal political developments in Azerbaijan, in particular, the growing protests in the cities and villages of Azerbaijan inhabited by Talysh and Lezgin peoples," he said in the statement, posted on his Facebook page.
According to Harutyunyan, the local population is thus boycotting Aliyev's decree on mobilization and launching war on Artsakh and Armenia.
The protests were sparked by the death of hundreds of young Talyshs and Lezgins men, killed in the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. He noted that the policy of the Azerbaijani political clan to turn them into a living target and get rid of them this way has not changed in recent decades.
"We highly appreciate the deep understanding of our problem and the constant display of sympathy for us from the indigenous peoples of Azerbaijan - the Talyshs and Lezgins. I want to assure you that we support the just struggle of the Talysh and Lezgin peoples and are ready in all possible ways to assist them in achieving the ultimate goal of their struggle. - gaining independence," said the president.
Harutyunyan assured that the Defense Army, as a gesture of goodwill, will not aim at those enemy military installations which are located in Talyshstan and Lezgistan.
Earlier today the Artsakh military hit a military airfield in Azerbaijan’s second-largest city of Gyanja. Artsakh president said it was retaliation to Azerbaijan's ongoing shelling of capital Stepanakert and civilian infrastructure.-0-
