YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Defense said today that at about 13:00 Azerbaijani troops fired at the Armenian positions located on an eastern section of the border.

It said Armenian troops took retaliatory actions to prevent the advance of the enemy. The ministry said it will provide further information on the situation.

In the meantime the daily "Haykakan Zhamanak" reported that the exchange of fire began because of two Armenian military outposts located on Mount Tsitsernakar after the Azerbaijani armed forces demanded that the Armenian military personnel leave them, but the latter refused. "The shootout continues," the newspaper writes.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on November 15 accused Azerbaijani troops of violating the Armenian border on November 14, however, after negotiations the Azeris pulled back. In a related development Pashinyan replaced Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan with Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan.-0-
