YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. On Sunday, Azerbaijani troops shelled the opposite side from artillery mounts on the north-eastern section of the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Artsakh (Karabakh) armed forces in a clear breach of the arrangements made by Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in Geneva at a recent meeting brokered by the OSCE Minsk Group.

The press office of the Artsakh defense ministry reports that the Azerbaijani side fired five mortar shells and one Spike anti-tank missile.

“What happened shows that Baku, as always, not only is not tuned to use the reached arrangements for settling the conflict by peaceful means and for avoiding inexcusable losses, but quite the opposite – it destabilizes things by resorting to intentional provocations,” the defense ministry says in its press release.

According to the press release, Artsakh troops, taking into account the efforts being taken by the international community, particularly the OSCE Minsk Group to settle the conflict, refrained from any return fire, but this absolutely doesn’t mean that if the same repeats the opposite side’s assaults will remain unanswered.

The Artsakh defense ministry is warning Azerbaijan’s political and military authorities against undertaking similar attacks – otherwise return actions will be stronger and quite painful. --0--
