Azerbaijani troops shelled Armenian positions in Sotk; one soldier wounded
YEREVAN, August 17. /ARKA/. An Armenian serviceman was wounded today in a skirmish provoked by Azerbaijani troops in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border section in Gegharkunik province, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported.
It said the Armenian positions located near the village of Sotk were shelled by Azerbaijanis at 14:45, who used firearms of various calibres.
The ministry said nothing threatens the life of the wounded soldier. According to the ministry, after countermeasures of the Armenian side, the enemy has one dead and one wounded.
Two Armenian servicemen were killed by Azerbaijani troops on August 16- one in Gegharkunik and the second in Yeraskh, a settlement bordering Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan exclave.
Earlier that day, the Azerbaijani troops provoked a shootout on the section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Syunik region near the Sev Lich Lake, trying to advance their positions. After the retaliatory actions of the Armenian troops Azerbaijanis retreated to their original positions. -0-
