YEREVAN, December 20. /ARKA/. Azerichild.education is a website that was created by an Armenian NGO Initiative to Prevent Xenophobia with the assistance of the Public Relations and Information Center, run by the staff of the Armenian president. The website was presented today in Yerevan.
Azerichild.education is part of a larger project Azerichild.info, which enables public at large both in Armenia and beyond to learn the most dangerous manifestations of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan, where it has penetrated books written for children and young people, the fairy tales, rhymes, children's games, educational and popular literature for children.
Speaking at the presentation, political analyst Angela Elibegova noted that while working on the project, they revealed tons of anti-Armenian propaganda in Azerbaijani school textbooks.
"When we began to study Azerbaijani school textbooks, we encountered a terrible picture not only in history but also in literature textbooks, and even in music. We collected all this in one project. The materials on the website are available in Russian and Azerbaijani languages," Elibegova said.
‘Interestingly, the propaganda in school textbooks is directed not only against Armenians, but also against Georgians, Russians and other neighboring peoples," Elibegova said.
According to her, the project is aimed at presenting to the whole world what is really happening in Azerbaijan today. She said Azerbaijani authorities are not taking any steps to prevent or mitigate this phenomenon.
Sociologist Armine Adibekyan stressed that Armenophobia is present not only in Azerbaijani school and university textbooks, but also in methodological manuals, which should be used by teachers to educate children.
"Until these phenomena are eliminated, it's impossible to talk about any kind of contacts between the two people," Adibekyan said. --- 0-
