The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh (Karabakh) has elected Bako Sahakyan as the republic president at a special session held on Wednesday, Artsakhpress reports.

YEREVAN, July 19. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh (Karabakh) has elected Bako Sahakyan as the republic president at a special session held on Wednesday, Artsakhpress reports.

As many as 28 MPs voted for Sahakyan and only four for his only rival Eduard Aghabekyan.

For election 21 votes were enough.

The reelected president thanked the lawmakers for trust and said he would continue working with a new enthusiasm and new programs for Artsakh's prosperity.  

Of 33 MPs, 32 were present at today's session.

In accordance with the Article 168 of Artsakh Constitution, the president will be in office until 2020, when the present parliament will be dismissed and new presidential elections will be conducted through popular vote. --0---
