YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/. The chairman of Armenia’s constitutional court Gagik Harutiunyan has cast his ballot at 9/20 polling station in Yerevan.

Armenia’s presidential vote is currently under way at a total of 1,988 ballot stations across the country.

Voting should become a civic duty for each citizen of the country, Harutiunyan said.

“People should realize that they are power holders and source of authority, and they should delegate their right in a proper way so that their wishes can be granted”, he said.

Harutiunyan also said that the voting is not only a right, but also a responsibility to the future generations.

The voting has been taking its normal course, in a festive atmosphere, since morning, he said.

Seven contenders are running for the country’s president today: incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister and leader of Freedom party Hrant Bagratyan, former foreign minister and leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisyan, well-known Soviet dissident and leader of National Self-Determination party Paruyr Hayrikyan, ex foreign minister of Karabakh Arman Melikyan, political scientist and head of Radio Hay Andrias Ghukasyan and specialist in epic studies Vardan Sedrakyan. –0—
