YEREVAN, December 12. /ARKA/. The implementation of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative fully aligns with the interests of all CIS countries, said Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

“The initiative is important and aims at the full realization of the region’s trade and economic potential by unblocking borders and creating a regional system of transport and communication infrastructure, both in the East-West and North-South directions,” Grigoryan noted at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government on Thursday.

According to him, sustainable and inclusive regional economic development cannot be ensured without the establishment of a necessary modern infrastructure network and seamless logistics.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Armenian Republic also stated that, to ensure the competitiveness of the economies of the CIS countries amid technological transformations, it is essential to create favorable conditions for the development of cooperation among economic entities of the participating states.

“Special attention should be given to the adoption of advanced global practices, high technologies, as well as the development of science-intensive and innovative industries,” Grigoryan said.

He emphasized the importance of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of digital transformation of the transport sector.

“The document envisions the development of the information infrastructure in the transport sector and the introduction of advanced information and communication technologies, which will undoubtedly contribute to the modernization of logistics services across the entire Commonwealth,” Grigoryan noted.

He also emphasized the need to continue efforts to eliminate barriers to mutual trade between CIS member states, taking into account national interests, and highlighted the importance of intensifying the activities of the high-level working group in this regard.-0-
