CSTO secretary general visits Armenia

YEREVAN, March 16, /ARKA/. The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov, who has arrived today in Armenia on a two-day working visit, visited the town of Jermuk where he met with the local authorities and military officials.
Also, the CSTO chief visited the areas of the spa twon that were affected in the Azerbaijani attack in September 2022 to get to know the situation on the ground.
Later today Imangali Tasmagambetov had a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan. They were said to have discussed a number of international and regional security issues, including the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of content and the military-political situation around Armenia.
On the situation along Armenian-Azerbaijani border Suren Papikyan presented the long-standing problems, specifying what Armenia's expectations from the CSTO are.
On March 10, Armenia refused to name a deputy secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Earlier, Armenia called off a CSTO military exercise that was scheduled to take place in Armenia later this year.
In 2022 November Armenia turned down CSTO member states’ offer to deploy monitors along its border with Azerbaijan, citing their reluctance to acknowledge and condemn the “Azerbaijani aggression against sovereign territory of Armenia'.-0-
