Czech parliament committee calls on Azerbaijan to release all Armenian captives

YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. A Czech Parliament committee on foreign relations adopted a resolution on the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

The resolution, which welcomes the ceasefire agreement, at the same time expresses regret at the failure of Azerbaijan to comply with the point concerning the prisoners of war, and calls on it to release all Armenian POWs.

The committee also calls for a political settlement of the conflict in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

The Armenian authorities decline demands to disclose the exact number of Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan on the grounds that it is a state secret.

However, according to various sources, there are more than 140 names on the Armenian exchange list. The European Court of Human Rights said it has received requests concerning 228 Armenians held in Azerbaijani captivity.

There are many videos on the network showing Armenian prisoners of war and civilians in captivity in Azerbaijan subjected to humiliating treatment.

Armenia agreed to 'all for all' swap of captives. As the end of January, with the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, more than 55 citizens of Armenia and 15 Azerbaijanis were repatriated . -0-
