Members of the outgoing Armenian Cabinet are not certain about who of them may continue to serve in the new Cabinet, which in all likelihood will be announced after September 21, when Armenia will be marking the 25th anniversary of independence from the former Soviet Union, a local daily ‘Hraparak’ (Square) writes in today’s issue.

YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/.

The daily says Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan has already had private conversations with all the ministers, but none was told whether he or she would continue to serve in their current status.

The daily says also citing its own sources that the first priority for the prime minister is to give a new tempo and style to regular weekly government sessions, and judging by the first session chaired by Karapetyan on Thursday he has achieved it.

"The next step will be personnel changes, but the decrees on appointments of members of the new government will be made after September 21,’» the article says.

In a related development deputy parliament speaker Eduard Sharmazanov from the governing Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) said significant changes are expected in the new government, however, he declined to mention specific names.

"The new prime minister said that party affiliation is not a dogma for us. This shows the breadth of view of the Republican Party. What is important to us are people with ideas which are in tune with ours," Sharmazanov said to journalists after a meeting of the executive body of the party.

In comments on yesterday’s statement by Karapetyan that Armenia's economy was in an extremely grave state Sharmazanov said: "The best times for our country are yet to come. It is normal that the prime minister gives real assessments - there are problems, which have to be solved,’ he said. -0-
