EEU Intergovernmental Council begins Yerevan meeting

The Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is having a regular meeting in the Armenian capital Yerevan today, attended by the heads of government of the EEU member countries, who are going to discuss a wide range of issues, such as implementation of EEU digital agenda, the removal of trade obstacles, industrial cooperation, trade, customs cooperation and the economy. The head of governments will be presented a report by the Eurasian Economic Commission on Creating Conditions for the Development of the Digital Ecosystem of Trade in the Eurasian Economic Union.

YEREVAN, April 30. /ARKA/. The Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is having a regular meeting in the Armenian capital Yerevan today, attended by the heads of government of the EEU member countries, who are going to discuss a wide range of issues, such as implementation of EEU digital agenda, the removal of trade obstacles, industrial cooperation, trade, customs cooperation and the economy. The head of governments will be presented a report by the Eurasian Economic Commission on Creating Conditions for the Development of the Digital Ecosystem of Trade in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The report contains recommendations on the development of Internet commerce in the Union, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s report on monitoring the assessment of the regulatory impact of the Commission’s draft decisions in 2018 , proposals for the approval of common approaches to determining the country of origin when exporting goods.
The members of the Intergovernmental Council will also consider the draft description of the reference model of the national single window mechanism of foreign economic activity regulation system. Today’s meeting was preceded by a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) Board, chaired by Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
It was attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Anton Siluanov, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smaylov, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Razakov and Chairman of the EEC Board Tigran Sargsyan. The agenda of the meeting had more than two dozen issues.
The officials were said to have discussed the results of the signing of international treaties between the EEU member states and third countries and a number of related issues, as well as the process of negotiations on free trade agreements with Singapore and Serbia. They also reconciled a draft agreement on pensions for employees of the EEU member countries.
The Board also touched upon the digitalization agenda and the results of the implementation of the main directions of the organization’s international activities in 2018. The interlocutors also exchanged views on improving cooperation in the trade and economic sectors. The agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was approved.
The Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union ensures the implementation and monitoring of the implementation of the EEU Treaty and the decisions of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. It also gives instructions to the Eurasian Economic Commission and exercises other powers provided for by the treaty. In 2019 the EEU is chaired by Armenia. --0--
