YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. "Electric Networks of Armenia" CJSC stated that the company's electrical facilities are in a technically unsatisfactory condition, are physically worn out, and in some cases are unsuitable for further operation.

"Many units of equipment have completely exhausted their resource and service life, the company completely lacks modern automated telecommunications facilities necessary for operational management and obtaining information about accidents," the statement says.

The company notes that this situation is a consequence of incorrect management policies over many years, the lack of initiatives to re-equip the network, as a result of which emergency shutdowns have become more frequent.

The ENA assures that in the event of an emergency, the operational and technical personnel, thanks to round-the-clock duty, respond to them as quickly as possible and begin to restore the power supply in a short time.

"In other cases, urgent restoration work may objectively take more time, for which we apologize and hope for understanding," the company noted.

A few days ago, the Electric Networks of Armenia company, owned by the president of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan, came under the leadership of Romanos Petrosyan, who was appointed as the interim state manager of the energy company on July 18. The day before, Petrosyan replaced three deputy general directors of ENA and the director of the Yerevan Energy Sales Service.

The goals of the actions of the interim manager of ENA CJSC during his term of office were named - preventing the risks of deliberate creation of an energy crisis; ensuring public order, eliminating possible risks threatening state security; eliminating the concealment of abuses in ENA and preventing further abuses.

About ENA

ENA manages medium and low voltage distribution networks in Armenia, serving about 1 million subscribers. Since 2016, Tashir Group has invested about $680 million in the modernization of ENA alone, and another $150-200 million was invested in the creation of new capacities. By 2034, it is planned to increase the total volume of ENA investments in the energy system of Armenia to 540 billion drams.

On the criminal prosecution of Samvel Karapetyan

Samvel Karapetyan was arrested in Armenia on June 18 on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power. This happened after Karapetyan, after a meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, stated that he had always been on the side of the Armenian Church and the Armenian people, and if politicians do not succeed, then "we are ready to participate in all this in our own way."

Then, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the readiness of the ENA nationalization plan, claiming that the process would be carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. The corresponding amendments to the laws "On Energy" and "On the Commission for the Regulation of Public Services" were adopted on July 3 and signed by the President of the Republic on July 8.
