YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. The Estonian Resident Embassy has opened in Armenia, the RA Foreign Ministry press service reported.
The embassy's opening ceremony was attended by RA and Estonian Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Margus Tsahkna, who is on an official visit to Armenia.
Mirzoyan stated that the opening of the embassy reflects Estonia's commitment to developing Armenian-Estonian relations, as well as continued support for democracy in Armenia and the Armenian people in their quest for freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and prosperity.
"We feel this support not only at the bilateral level, but also within the framework of Armenia-EU relations," Mirzoyan noted.
Tsahkna, for his part, called the opening of the embassy a historic event.
"Estonia, as a small country, sees that a number of countries, especially in Europe, are closing their embassies, while we are opening five new ones. And the first of these is in the Republic of Armenia," he said.
Tsahkna called this a priority.
"I see that you are leading Armenia toward peace, European values, and prosperity. You are making historic decisions not only for your country, but for the region and all of Europe. I am glad that our prime minister will soon visit Armenia, as will many EU leaders," Tsahkna said.
He also announced that practical cybersecurity exercises have begun, involving more than 10 teams practicing responses to attacks in real-world conditions, adding that a business program has also been launched to find new markets for Armenian companies.
