YEREVAN, December 25. /АРКА/.  Mistakes in the process of Armenia’s European integration have been made by both Armenian and European sides, Anna Karapetyan, a political analyst at European Integration NGO, said Wednesday at a news conference in Novosti International Press Center.

“Both sides in the European integration and Eastern Partnership processes had great expectations, and as a result their faults were big,” she said answering Novosti-Armenia News Agency’s question.

As one of the faults, she pointed out the European Union’s failed attempts to open Armenian-Turkish border, which is actually Europe’s customs border with Armenia. Karapetyan said that this failure disappointed Armenia.

In early September, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, made a joint statement, according to which Armenia has decided to join the Customs Union and to take part in formation of the Eurasian Union in the future.

The announcement came as Armenia was poised to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union aimed at making European Union’s ties with Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova and Georgia closer. --0----
