YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. The UN Security Council has not adopted a document following debates on Azerbaijan's invasion of Armenia, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at a government meeting on Friday.

"As a result of debates no document has been adopted yet but I would like to stress that it shouldn’t belittle by any means the importance of the discussions because even without a document the international community took a very clear position on the issues," Mirzoyan said.

He also noted that most of the countries stressed the unacceptability of the use of force, the inviolability of Armenia's sovereign territory, and the need to return to pre-invasion positions.

"Many times the term 'aggression' was used by speakers, that is, there is a very clear idea that this is an invasion of Armenian territory, that civilian infrastructure was targeted. Many countries spoke about the Karabakh conflict and I will not exaggerate if I say that Azerbaijani authorities' arguments that the Karabakh issue no longer exists was declined yesterday by the international community," Mirzoyan said.

The extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council was convened at Armenia’s request following the invasion of Azerbaijan of its territory.

Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN Mher Margaryan said in particular that Azerbaijan's aggression was carried out in the light of ongoing negotiations and contrary to the efforts made in various formats to establish peace in the region.

He also said that the Azerbaijani side is planning another attack against Armenia from its exclave Nakhijevan. -0-
