Former candidate for Armenian president charged with ordering murder of Hayrikyan :NSS

Vardan Sedrakyan, the former Armenian presidential candidate, is charged with ordering the murder of Paruyr Hayrikyan, the leader of “Union “National Self-Determination” party, the National Security Service of Armenia reported to Novosti-Armenia on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. Vardan Sedrakyan, the former Armenian presidential candidate, is charged with ordering the murder of Paruyr Hayrikyan, the leader of “Union “National Self-Determination” party, the National Security Service of Armenia reported to Novosti-Armenia on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Sedrakyan was yesterday charged under Article 34-305 of the Penal Code ( assassination attempt on a state, political or public figure) within the framework of the criminal case investigated by Armenia’s intelligence agency.
On the same day, Sedrakyan was arrested for two months by the Court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts.
Sedrakyan doesn’t confess and refuses to testify.
Sedrakyan’s name was speculated in media after the assassination attempt was made on another presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan. Media reported the two detained men worked for Sedrakyan. He denied his links to assassination attempt however supposed he might be arrested after the elections.
Armenia’s National Security Service is in charge of investigating the case.
On February 9, the National Security Service reported two individuals, Khachatur Poghosyan and Samvel Harutyunyan, were detained. A day later, Nagant revolver was found at the apartment of one of the detainees. The expertise showed Hayrikyan was shot from that revolver. -0-
