Georgia will not join anti-Russian sanctions of West

The government of Georgian is not going to join economic and financial sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told Georgian journalists on Friday, Russian news agency TASS reported.

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. The government of Georgian is not going to join economic and financial sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told Georgian journalists on Friday, Russian news agency TASS reported.

"I want to clearly and unequivocally state that Georgia, taking into account its national interests, is not going to join the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West," Garibashvili was quoted as saying.

EU leaders held an emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and agreed on sanctions designed to impose "massive and severe consequences" on Moscow, euronews. com reported

The sanctions cover the financial sector, the energy and transport sectors, dual-use goods as well as export control and export financing, visa policy, additional listings of Russian individuals and new listing criteria. -0-
