The body of the former director of Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) Geogry Kutoyan with gunshot wound, was found in an apartment on Paruyr Sevak Street in Yerevan, said Naira Harutyunyan, the press secretary of the Investigative Committee.

Kutoyan, 38, who served as director of NSS under former president Serzh Sargsyan, was replaced by Artur Vanetsyan in 2018.
Kutoyan served as NSS director from 2016 to 2018.
Georgy Kutoyan was born in Yerevan, in 1981. In 2002, he graduated with honors from the Law Faculty of Rostov State University (Russian Federation). In 2005, he graduated from the post-graduate school of the Institute of Philosophy and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. In 2007, he graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in the United States (Tuft University).
In 2002-2010 he taught at the Armenian-Russian (Slavic) University, the Academy of Public Administration and the National Academy of Sciences. In 2005-2006 he worked for the General Prosecutor's Office, first as a researcher, then as a prosecutor.
In 2011-2016 he served as assistant to the President of Armenia. In 2011- 2014 he was the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Strategy Monitoring Commission under the Presidential Anti- Corruption Council. -0-

Naira Harutyunyan said the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Hayk Grigoryan dispatched his deputy Arthur Melikyan to the crime scene. The head of the Investigative Committee's investigative division of Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts Gevorgyan, is also there.
