German companies are expanding their interest in Armenia – Merz
YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that German companies are expanding their interest in Armenia, as the region and Armenia are important as a hub between Asia and Europe.

"We must utilize the potential that exists in our countries. This requires a framework and peace, the rule of law, and competition. German companies are known for conducting thorough environmental analysis before investing. It's not easy for SMEs to invest in a distant country, but they are reliable and trusting partners when they see the framework conditions in a specific country," he emphasized.

Therefore, Merz noted, the reforms taking place in Armenia are very important.

"They are complex, we know this from our German experience, and we are confident that all of this will bear fruit," he said.

According to Armstat, trade turnover between Armenia and Germany amounted to $386.5 million in the first 10 months of 2025, a decrease of 4.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Exports increased by 80.6%, exceeding $93 million, while imports from both countries decreased by 11.4% to $327.9 million.
