The government of Armenia made a decision on Thursday to release additionally 408.9 million drams for the hosting of  Francophonie Summit in Yerevan in autumn.

YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia made a decision on Thursday to release additionally 408.9 million drams for the hosting of  Francophonie Summit in Yerevan in autumn. Foreign minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said the government had allocated earlier 1.483 billion drams for the holding of the summit in 2018. 

He noted that the additional money is  needed to prepare solemn events, accommodation of guests and some 300 journalists who will arrive in the Armenian capital to cover the summit.

The 17th Francophonie Summit is scheduled to take place on October 7-12 under the slogan "Living  together in solidarity, sharing humanistic values and respecting diversity as a source of peace and prosperity in the Francophonie region."  President of France Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau will visit Armenia to attend the gathering. 

The International Organization of La Francophonie represents one of the biggest linguistic zones in the world. It  was created in 1970  to embody the active solidarity between its 84 member states and governments (58 members and 26 observers), which together represent over one-third of the United Nations’ member states and account for a population of over 900 million people, including 274 million French speakers. -0-
