Great Britain supports the peace-building efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group concerning the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said at the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in London.
YEREVAN, May 21./ARKA/. Great Britain supports the peace-building efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group concerning the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said at the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in London.
Nalbandian, on his side, noted the progress in the conflict settlement can be reached if Azerbaijan demonstrates an appropriate political will and constructional approach, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Tuesday.
The Armenian FM also met the members of the House of Lords. During a business lunch Nalbandian and William Wallace, Government Spokesman at the House of Lords, discussed the issues related to the European agenda, Armenian-British relations and a number of regional and international issues.
Nalbandian also met Baroness Frances D'Souza, Lord Speaker, as well as Caroline Cox who is the head of the Armenian-British friendship group and the member of the House of Lords. They discussed the bilateral intergovernmental cooperation, and noted it has been activated over the recent years,
Upon the request of Lord Speaker, Nalbandian presented the priorities of Armenian foreign policy, the role of the Armenian Diaspora in the country’s prosperity.
Armenian FM also had a meeting with the members of the Armenian-British friendship group and discussed the prospects for the bilateral cooperation, Armenia-EU relations and Armenia’s approaches to the peaceful settlement of the regional problems.
During his official visit, Nalbandian also visited the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he discussed the economic reforms, investment and business environment in Armenia.
Nalbandian also discussed the priorities and programs of Armenia as the chair of the Council of Europe with Robert Walter, leader of the UK PACE Delegation.—0-
