Greece and Armenia have potential to develop successful cooperation in innovative defense research

YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. Greece and Armenia have the potential to develop successful cooperation in the field of innovative defense research, Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said at a joint press briefing with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan in Yerevan on Monday.
He said he discussed this issue with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan, as well as ways to strengthen relations within the framework of the bilateral defense agreement.
"Today we are witnessing a very unstable situation as we are dealing with expansionist forces. They ignore international law, international agreements, UN values and principles. The common task of the international community should be to solve all these problems. We must show that we are ready to prevent the escalation of conflicts and also try to return to a peaceful situation. It is always necessary to act in accordance with international law," Dendias emphasized.
"This year we signed a military cooperation program. In the past, we also managed to record good results. For example, there were many applications from Armenia to study in Greek military schools. Therefore, we plan to accept even more students in the coming years," Dendias said.
According to him, the two countries may well establish successful cooperation in finding innovative solutions in the defense sphere as well.
The Greek minister said also that he informed his Armenian colleagues about the new Greek legislation regarding the new research and innovation center.
‘We will be happy if Armenian companies also contribute to this system," concluded the Greek Defense Minister. -0-
