YEREVAN, July 8. /ARKA/. Investigative actions are being conducted at the main office of the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC in Yerevan, which belongs to the president of the Tashir Group, philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan.

The press secretary of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Kima Avdalyan told the ARKA news agency that urgent investigative actions are being conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated in the Main Department for Combating Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the Investigative Committee and the Investigative Department for Yerevan.

The information about the searches was confirmed by the press secretary of the ENA Natalya Sarjanyan. "Some events have been taking place here since early morning. We do not know which department these people are from, but they are not letting us into the office. All the employees have gathered at the entrance to the building," she told TASS.

According to media reports, law enforcement officers are currently searching the house of the company's CEO Narek Karapetyan, who is Samvel Karapetyan's nephew.

On July 3, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted amendments to the Laws of the Republic of Armenia "On the Public Services Regulatory Authority" and "On Energy", allowing the nationalization of Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC. According to the draft, if there are appropriate grounds, the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission may initiate proceedings and apply preventive measures.

On the situation with the owner of ENA

The owner of ENA, President of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan was arrested in Armenia on June 18 on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power. This happened after Karapetyan, after a meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, stated that he had always been on the side of the Armenian Church and the Armenian people, and if politicians do not succeed, then "we are ready to participate in all this in our own way."

Later, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the readiness of the ENA nationalization plan, claiming that the process will be carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia.
