Iran president to visit Armenia soon

During a meeting with visiting Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said he will visit Armenia soon.

YEREVAN, June 6. /ARKA/. During a meeting with visiting Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said he will visit Armenia soon. Rouhani also asked to convey his warm greetings and good wishes to his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan, the press service of the Armenian foreign ministry said.

Rouhani was quoted by the ministry as saying that Yerevan and Tehran enjoy strong and steady friendly relations. The Iranian president said that after reaching an agreement over Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions, a good opportunity is created for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries in all fields.

The two men were said to have spoken about the implementation of bilateral agreements on economic projects and expansion the legal framework.

Rouhani noted that despite progress in various spheres of bilateral cooperation, there is still great potential for enlarging Iranian-Armenian cooperation.

The parties agreed also that the abolition of visa regime will give a new impetus to activate relations between the friendly nations and boost tourism. 

President Rouhani stressed also Iran’s readiness to contribute to stability and peace in the region, and reiterated his country’s support for the exceptionally peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict on the basis of the principles of international law. Minister Nalbandian hailed Iran’s balanced position on the Karabakh issue. -- 0--
