Kopyrkin confirmed Russia's readiness to facilitate settlement between Yerevan and Baku

YEREVAN, June 13. /ARКА/. Russia has provided and is ready to continue to provide all possible assistance to achieve a peaceful settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.

"We proposed, and this proposal remains in force - a Russian platform for signing a peace treaty. Now we see that both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides have taken a line on a bilateral format for discussing these issues. We treat this with respect, but have repeatedly officially and publicly confirmed our readiness to provide all possible assistance in those forms and issues that are in demand by both sides," Kopyrkin said in an interview with Euromedia24.

According to him, Russia has taken, is taking and is ready to take all necessary actions to help ensure the sovereignty of Armenia, its territorial integrity, and achieve normalization in Armenia's relations with its neighbors. And much has already been done in this regard.

He cited as an example the trilateral statements at the highest level that were adopted in 2020-2022 on key aspects of normalizing the situation in the region.

"Russia has been and remains committed to the peace process, to the cause of normalization," Kopyrkin said, answering the question of whether Moscow continues to be a mediator between Yerevan and Baku.

According to him, it is in Russia's vital interests to normalize the situation in the region and open communications so that the region is stable, peaceful, and has a secure future.
