Lemkin Institute: The world must act immediately to prevent a second Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, January 4. /ARKA/. The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention said in a tweet it was concerned that electricity in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) may be cut. Such a possibility makes clear the vulnerability of Armenians in Artsakh to the genocidal regime of Azerbaijani president. 'The world must act immediately to prevent a second Armenian Genocide,' it said.

In a related development Artsakh Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan said like all other children, Artsakh children also deserve love and support, nutrition, safety, and security. BUT!!! Due to the Artsakh blockade by Azerbaijan, hundreds of families are now separated, and children have not seen their parents for almost 24 days. OPEN THE ROAD OF LIFE!

The sole road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, has been blocked since December 12 by groups of Azerbaijanis, described by Azerbaijani state media as environmental activists protesting against illegal mining in the area.

Armenia accused Azerbaijan of seeking to cause a humanitarian collapse in Nagorno-Karabakh and force its residents to leave their homes. On December 13-16 Azerbaijan also cut off gas supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh, pumped from Armenia.

Due to the blockade there is a shortage of medications, fuel as well as food and other essentials. -0-
