YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told his Armenian counterpart Armen Sarkissian in Minsk today that ‘there are no closed topics with Armenia.’
“We are always ready to open the doors for you. I think you have seen this during the visit,” he was quoted as saying by Sarkissian’s press office.
Sarkissian traveled to Belarus to attend the closing ceremony of the Second European Games. Speaking about cooperation between the two countries, Lukashenko touched on issues of the economic agenda.
"Despite the fact that today we have a small trade turnover, however, 50 million US dollars a year is a good dynamic when compared with past performance," he said. Noting that Belarus is very warm towards Armenians, Lukashenko said that “we have always had good relations with Armenians.”
"Therefore, you can be calm, despite the fact that there are different opinions in Armenia and Belarus. We are criticized for something. I think this is normal, but it’s important that we are allies; we act from the same positions. We have no differences in positions, in fact, even on an international agenda," he said.
At the end of the meeting, Sarkissian congratulated Lukashenko and the entire Belarusian people on the Independence Day marked on July 3 and the 75th anniversary of the liberation from fascism. -0-
