The state should take control of "Electrical Networks of Armenia" (ENA) and study what is happening in the company, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

YEREVAN, July 16. /ARKA/. The state should take control of "Electrical Networks of Armenia" (ENA) and study what is happening in the company, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"This story did not start right now," he said at a press conference on Wednesday, explaining that during his visits to the regions, he received signals and dissatisfaction regarding the work of ENA.
According to Pashinyan, "we did not say that after the nationalization or acquisition of ENA, the state will always manage the energy network of Armenia."
"Our task is to find the most convenient and effective manager, to establish very clear and effective state and public control over the management," the prime minister emphasized.
On July 8, the RA President signed a number of legislative amendments allowing the nationalization of "Electrical Networks of Armenia". The amendments were initiated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and approved by parliament on July 3. They empower the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia to initiate administrative proceedings against an energy operator if there are appropriate grounds.
Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC is part of the Tashir Group of Companies, which is owned by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, who was arrested in Armenia on June 18 on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power. ENA manages medium and low voltage distribution networks in Armenia, serving about 1 million subscribers.
Since 2016, Tashir Group has invested about $680 million in the modernization of Electrical Networks of Armenia alone, and another $150-200 million has been invested in the creation of new capacities. By 2034, it is planned to increase the total volume of ENA investments in the energy system of Armenia to 540 billion drams. ($1 - 384.12 drams)
