YEREVAN, February 22. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan and members of My Step parliamentary faction discussed today a string of questions pertaining to the creation of a new ministry.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Arshakyan said that the new ministry will include high technology and communications sectors, and possibly the military industry, while transport issues will be handed to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development.
Armenian media stories say the government has drafted a preliminary version of a bill on amending and supplementing the law on the composition of the government. According to these changes, the government will consist of Prime Minister, two deputy prime ministers and 12 ministries.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development is supposed to include the current Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, Communications and Transport, as well as the State Committee for Water Management.
The Ministry of Economy will be merged with the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Ecology will be renamed as the Ministry of the Environment. The office of the Chief Diaspora Commissioner will replace the Ministry of Diaspora. -0-
