YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. France supports the talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said at a joint briefing with her Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan today.

"France is not doing it alone, it is doing it together with the EU, the US, liaising with the OSCE and the UN, which can play a positive role in this process," Colonna said. She noted that the path to peace is complicated and hard to find.

"But, as I said in Baku and Yerevan, this is the only way to achieve a just and stable peace, to create new prospects for the future of both countries and peoples," the minister said.

"Respect for territorial integrity also means rejection of any forceful action. I said that in Baku and I repeat it here in Yerevan," Colonna said.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to establishing peace in the region.

"However, Azerbaijan continues occupation of Armenia's sovereign territories and aggressive actions that are provocative and contradict the Sochi and Prague statements," Mirzoyan said, noting Armenia's commitment to the 1991 Almaty Declaration, through which both sides recognized each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty after the disintegration of former Soviet Union.

He said Armenia continues talks with Azerbaijan around a treaty to normalize relations. "I must note that the imperative to resolve all existing problems without the use or threat of force is key for a comprehensive and long-term settlement, as well as addressing the rights and freedoms of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh in an internationally guaranteed dialogue format," Mirzoyan said. -0-
