More than 3,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh have returned to their homes since November 14 with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, Igor Konashenkov, head of the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry, told a press briefing today.

More than 3,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh have returned to their homes since November 14 with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, Igor Konashenkov, head of the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry, told a press briefing today.
Konashenkov noted that the Russian peacekeepers continue to monitor compliance with the ceasefire regime in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. In his words, the ceasefire is being observed along the entire line of contact.
Konashenkov also said that in accordance with the agreements reached, the bodies of soldiers who died during the conflict continue to be exchanged in Nagorno-Karabakh under the coordination of the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation and the ICRC.
“On November 19, the Russian peacekeeping forces ensured the safe movement of five vehicles with servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the Shushi settlement to Fizuli region of Azerbaijan,” he said.
He said also that the personnel, military equipment and material property of the peacekeeping contingent is still coming by air. In total, according to him, since November 10, 2020, 206 flights have been made, including 22 flights over the past day.
He said there is direct communication channels between the Russian peacekeepers and Armenian and Azerbaijani military authorities to prevent possible incidents.
On November 9, the leaders of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the sides stopped at their positions; the town of Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of the 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia.
A Russian peacekeeping contingent is deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are being exchanged. -0-
