YEREVAN, October 11. / ARKA /. Mkrtich Minasian, an Armenian MP representing the ruling Republican Party, claimed today the opposition will fail to field a single candidate for the 2013 presidential election.
"Of course, nothing can be ruled out, but I do not think we will see a single opposition candidate contesting the polls," he said to a news conference.
Asked whether the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, Gagik Tsarukian, has a chance to be nominated as a single opposition candidate, Minasian said first of all this party should decide whether it is in opposition or not.
Minasian said then that the first and second presidents – Levon Ter-Petrosian and Robert Kocharian- are unlikely to be nominated as presidential candidates.
"I think things will get clearer by mid-November. In my opinion, by that time the political forces will have made their choice. However, whatever is decided, I'm sure in one thing - our candidate, the incumbent president will be re-elected,’ he said. -0-
