YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. Tigran Mukuchyan, the head of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia, asked members of the country’s Constitutional Court to decline the opposition’s suit that calls into question the officially announced results of the parliamentary elections.
The Constitutional Court has completed Friday considering the suit filed by the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress and the People’s Party of Armenia.
“Not a single piece of evidence has been presented, and all the arguments have been without any legal ground,” Mukuchyan said Friday at the court session.
Levon Zurabyan, head of the Armenian National Congress’ faction in the parliament, addressing the Constitutional Court members, said that they back the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president, while the truth is known.
The members of the Constitutional Court retired from the courtroom for making their final decision.
According to the recent parliamentary election official results, the Republican Party of Armenia obtained 58 seats or 55.2% in the National Assembly and Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutiun seven seats.
Tsarukyan bloc got 31 seats and YELQ, the only opposition bloc, won nine seats. ---0---
